Critique

I love this book,because it's about unending friendship and there adventures. Freak never let go of hope from his disability and thats what I liked about him.Max showed unending compassion for his friend Freak and was heart broken about his death.The only thing I disliked about the book was that Freak died,but it weaves together the whole story of friendship.I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventures and true friendship.

Chapter 25

Max locked himself up for days and was feeling terrible,but that was a year ago.Everybody felt sorry for Max,which he didn't like,even Tony D. felt bad for him.Then one day Max saw Loretta Lee and she said that Freaks mom moved to California and has a new boyfriend.She asked whats he been up to and he said nothing and she told him that nothing was a drag. So Freak goes home and writes his book about there adventures and here we are at the end of the story.

Chapter 24

Max sneaks out in the morning and goes to the hospital.The nurses start acting weird and freaked out when he asks where Freak is.Then Max runs to the medical research building and kicks the glass in.Then there was another door instead of glass,but the cops caught up with him and held him back. Freak had died and the doctor said he knew he wouldn't have a long life.She also said he made the fantasy of the robot body to give him hope.Then Max's grandfather picked him up and Max didn't say anything on the way home.

Chapter 23

Freaks mom comes out of the hospital and says that Freak wants to see Max,because he's making a big fuss.Freak is being held in ICU and won't go home for a while.Then he says that tonight is when the operation begins and he will have a new body.Then Freak gives Max a blank book and tells him to write about all of their adventures together.then Max's grandparents take him home.

Chapter 22

Freak says that you can remember anything whether it happened or not.It's Freak's birthday and Max's grandmother and Gwen are making a cake for him and he also got a computer.Then he shows everybody how to play games and cool stuff on the computer.Then all of a sudden Freak has a seizure and is sent to the hospital.

Chapter 21

Max went to the police station to get pictures of the bruises on his neck.Loretta Lee has a cracked bone,but will be o.k. Now Max is sleeping upstairs even though his dad was arrested.Now Freak has been going for checkups every month.Then Max found out his dad plead guilty and will serve 10 extra years to his original sentence.Max's grandfather said he may look like his dad,but he has his moms heart.

Chapter 20

Max starts screaming at his dad that he saw him kill his mom by choking her,just the way he's choking Loretta.Then his dad lets go of her and says that Max couldn't even remember,because he was four.Then Max's dad says he has to clean this up and starts choking his own son.Then Freak comes out of nowhere and shoots Max's dad with his squirt gun that has sulfuric acid.Then they run while Max's dad is chasing them and the cops grab him and take him to jail.The stuff Freak shot at him was actually vinegar ,soap and curry powder.Loretta Lee was also o.k after the attack.

Chapter 19

Then they abandon the house and go to another one,but it's burned down.Then Max's dad rips apart of his shirt off and puts it over Max's mouth.Then Loretta Lee comes downstairs and tries to untie Max and says that his dad isn't the way he used to be.Then all of a sudden Max's dad starts choking her and she's almost helpless.

Chapter 18

In the morning Loretta Lee comes in and tells them Merry Christmas and gives them a box of pizza and Max's dad tells her if thats the best she can do for them.Then he says that they will buy a RV and escape from here.Then Iggy runs in and says that the cops showed up at his door asking if they knew where Max was.Freak was in the cop car and knew Max was somewhere out there.Then Max's dad tells Iggy to get him transportation and a gun.

Chapter 17

Iggy takes them to this old lady's house where they will stay for a while.Then Max's dad ties him up so he can't escape.If Max tries to escape the rope will pull on his dad and he would know.Then Max's dad says that he gave presents to him,but he must have never got them.Then Max's dad says that Max never knew what happened on that day his mother died and then he swears on the bible that he never killed her.

Chapter 16

He tells Max that his mind has been poisoned against him,but Max is scared stiff to say anything.Max's dad says that he didn't kill anybody and it's all a big lie.Max's dad makes him put on his clothes and they leave the house and he says that they are going to seek shelter. Then they end up at Loretta Lee's house.Max's dad believes that he is a preacher,but he's not.After they eat some food Iggy says that he will show them the place he told Max's father about.

Chapter 15

Freak and his mom went over to Max's house for Christmas and Freak gave Max a big pyramid that contained a dictionary of Freaks favorite words. Everybody had a great time that night and they all ate together.Then in the middle of the night Max wakes up and fells a breeze,but it's a person breathing and he hears a voice that says,"I came back like I promised."

Chapter 14

When Freak comes back from the hospital and says that he will get the new body in about a year or two.Freaks problem is that he's growing on the inside, but not on the outside.Max finds out his dad is on parole and that his grandfather is thinking about buying a gun,which Max's grandmother doesn't like. Max's grandfather makes him promise to stay in the house for a few days,and he does.

Chapter 13

Max's teacher gets a note that tells Max to come to the principals office,but Freak can't go this time.She says that his father has requested from the parole,but thats all she cane say,because Max doesn't want to hear it and that was the end of that.Freak loves chop suey, but he ate to much and choked on it and had to go to the hospital.Max tried to go with Freak, but the principal wouldn't let him and the ambulance drove away.

Chapter 12

Freak admits that Loretta Lee was right,but he stayed cool about it.School started back and Freak made sure that Max had every class with him,so Max's grandparents signed the forms for Max to be with Freak.everybody starting making fun of Freak and Max until Freak gets on Max's shoulders and starts chanting Freak the Mighty,Which I think is brave.They where then sent to the principals office,but they got out of it,because Freak used big words from the dictionary and stuff like that.

Chapter 11

The place were Loretta Lee lived was in the New Testaments which is where dope fiends and poor people lived.When they find Loretta Lee they find out her husband is the leader of a motorcycle gang.Loretta Lee remembers Max's dad and that they used to know each other and now he's serving time.She also knows Freak's mom.Then Freak and Max left after Loretta said that Freaks father left after the doctor told him that Freak had a birth defect.

Chapter 10

Freak tells Max that he wants to go on another quest,this time in the sewer.Max lowers a hook in the storm drain and finds a purse. Thats what Freak thought was treasure. Then they opened the purse,but all they found was a ID card.So they read the card and find out it belongs to Loretta Lee and Freak thinks that she is a damsel in distress.

Chapter 9

Freak now has a habit by sitting on Max's shoulders and Freak uses his feet to steer Max in the right direction.Freak uses his imagination like he thinks the side walk is a bridge and he thinks his compass is a ancient artifact. They finally end up at a place called the Experimental Bionics Unit and Freak makes him swear that he won't tell anybody about it. Freak says he's going to get a new bionic body and that he has already been x-rayed for it.Max is afraid about it,but Freak says that life is dangerous and they go home.

Chapter 8

Max's grandparents are very happy that Max was home safe. Max's grandparent's act so proud,because they think Max saved Freak. Freak goes to Max's house in the mornings and tells him that they have adventures to go on.Freak tells Max that today they are going to venture East.If Max doesn't understand a word that Freak say's Freak makes him look it up in the dictionary,which makes Max feel stupid.

Chapter 7

When the fireworks ended Tony and his gang chase after Freak and Max.Freak clings onto Max's shoulders the whole time.They have nowhere else to go so there only option was to jump into the pond.They jump in and turn around and see Tony screaming with his head barely sticking out of the water.So he starts telling his gang to throw rocks until the policed showed up and they ran away.Then the police Pulled Freak and Max out of the water and said that they knew Max's dad as Killer Kane and that he was in jail.When they asked for their names Freak said"Freak the Mighty."So thats how they became Freak the Mighty.

Chapter 6

Today is a special and fun holiday the 4th of July.This is the first year that Max can go watch fireworks without his grandparents.This year he will also go with Freak. When they are walking to the millpond they run into a kid named Tony D. who has been sent to juvy court 3 times. The best way to deal with him and his gang is to avoid them. Then Tony starts mouthing,but Freak and Max don't listen until Freak says"Ignore the cretin"and that made him mad.Then a cop car is heading to the millpond and Tony and his gang run away.When the fireworks started Freak couldn't see so Max put him on his shoulders and Freak started yelling out the compounds of the fireworks as they blew up in the sky.

Chapter 5

Max is in his room when his grandmother knocks on the door and tells him that Gwen Avery called(Freaks Mom)and wanted to tell him that she was sorry and didn't know that Freak and him where trying to be friends.Max is invited over to dinner and Freaks mom talks about Max's mom and how they used to be friends.She also told Max that his dad made it hard for his mom to have friends when they where married. When they are eating Max starts choking,but Freak hits Max in the back and the food comes out.Then Max has a weird felling,which is he's happy.

Chapter 4

When they both get to Max's house Freak has to hobble down the stairs to get to the basement. Freak has a wide vocabulary and Max never understands a word he's saying so Freak has to explain it to him. Freaks mom got the nickname the Fair Gwen from the Fair Guinevere,from the legend of King Arthur. Freak then tells Max about how King Arthur became a king. Freak believes in robots,but when Max tries to correct him Freak gets mad,so Max just goes with the program. Then they her Freaks mother calling and she sounds worried so they go into the backyard. She grabs Freak and takes him away in his wagon and Max thinks that she is afraid of him.

Chapter 3

To Max Freak looks like he hasn't even grown since preschool,but Max grows an inch every day. Then Max spots Freak in his backyard trying to get something out of the tree,but he can't because he can't jump. So Freak crawls back to his house and drags his wagon under the tree. Then he stands up in the wagon and takes his crutch and starts whacking the tree with it. Max goes to the tree and gets it out. It turned out to be a ornithopter that was stuck in the tree. Max puts Freak in his wagon and goes to his house to show Freak around.
